Cockroach Control
If you’ve seen one, there are hundreds more.

Cockroaches are among the most resilient pests on the planet — and one of the most dangerous to have in your home. They contaminate food and surfaces with bacteria including Salmonella and E. coli, trigger asthma and allergy attacks, and reproduce so rapidly that a small problem becomes an overwhelming infestation in a matter of weeks. Seeing a cockroach during daylight hours is a strong sign that the population has already grown beyond what’s hiding in the dark.
Select Exterminating uses a multi-method approach to cockroach elimination — combining targeted gel baiting, insect growth regulators, and perimeter treatments to break the reproductive cycle and eliminate the entire population. Our technicians know where roaches hide, what attracts them, and how to keep them from coming back.
Understanding cockroach infestations
Cockroaches are secretive by nature and skilled at staying out of sight — but they always leave evidence behind. If you know what to look for, you can catch an infestation early before it spirals out of control. Watch for these warning signs:
Roaches seen during daytime hours
Cockroaches are nocturnal by nature. When they're visible during the day, it typically means the population has grown large enough that competition for harborage space is forcing them into the open. Daytime sightings should be treated as a serious warning sign of a significant infestation.
Musty odor, droppings, or egg casings
Cockroach droppings resemble black pepper or coffee grounds and are commonly found in cabinet corners, behind appliances, and under sinks. A musty, oily smell in enclosed spaces and the presence of oval-shaped egg casings (oothecae) confirm an active and growing infestation.
Our cockroach treatment process
Eliminating a cockroach infestation requires breaking the reproductive cycle — not just killing what you can see. Our multi-method approach targets roaches at every stage, in every hiding spot. Here’s how we do it:

Detailed Inspection
Our technicians perform a detailed inspection of all high-risk areas — kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, and wall voids — to identify the species, assess population density, and locate harborage sites and entry points.

Treatment Plan
We apply a combination of gel baits strategically placed in harborage areas, insect growth regulators to prevent nymphs from reaching reproductive maturity, and crack-and-crevice applications to eliminate roaches in inaccessible hiding spots.

Follow-Up
Cockroach populations require persistent management. We schedule follow-up visits to monitor bait consumption, refresh treatments, and confirm the infestation is collapsing before issuing a clearance.

Frequently asked questions
I only saw one cockroach — do I really need professional treatment?
Yes. Cockroaches are highly secretive and mostly nocturnal. For every roach you see, there are estimated to be dozens or hundreds hidden in walls, under appliances, and inside cabinets. A single female German cockroach can produce up to 400 offspring in her lifetime. Early professional intervention is always the right call.
Are cockroaches dangerous to my health?
Yes, cockroaches pose real health risks. They carry and spread bacteria including Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli on surfaces and food. Their shed skins and droppings are potent allergens that can trigger or worsen asthma, particularly in children. Professional elimination is a health issue, not just a nuisance issue.
Why don't store-bought sprays work on cockroaches?
Aerosol sprays kill roaches on contact but do nothing to reach the populations hiding in walls, behind appliances, and deep in harborage areas. Repeated spray use can also trigger “bait aversion” in German cockroaches, making them harder to treat. Professional-grade gel baits and growth regulators are significantly more effective at eliminating the full population.
How did cockroaches get into my home?
Cockroaches enter through gaps around plumbing, utility lines, and exterior cracks. They’re also commonly introduced through grocery bags, used appliances, cardboard boxes, and furniture. German cockroaches — the most common indoor species — are almost always transported in, not arriving from outdoors.
How long does cockroach treatment take?
Most infestations show significant reduction within 2 to 3 weeks of initial treatment. Severe infestations may require 4 to 6 weeks and multiple service visits for complete elimination. Our technicians will give you a realistic timeline based on the severity of your specific infestation.
